Boston 2014 Hip-Hop Album Releases
2014 was a big year for Boston and those that dominate it’s Hip-Hop scene. Rising star Dutch Rebelle dropped “Rebelle Diaries” that’s still keeping the streets buzzin. Boston heavyweights Edo G, Akrobatik, Slaine and Reks all released albums – and good ones too. Termanology dropped an EP and “Shut Up and Rap” and frequent collaborator Statik Selektah dropped another album that features a cadre of real hip-hop artists over 20 Statik produced tracks. M-Dot dropped his “Jake LaDOTta” mix – an album that’s a collection of recent songs. Team 220 member 360 dropped his mixtape #Foot2NeckSeason Vol. 1, while Benefit, Stucat and Amadeus The Stampede all release slept on albums that didn’t get enough play.
2015 is going to see some major releases as well. Big Shug is dropping “Triple OGzus” in March. M-Dot’s official debut “The Ego and The Enemy” will be out later this year. Millyz is set to drop “Sped.” Maybe some Ea$y Money?
If you’re from Boston you know the scene. It’s tough to not only break in, make an impact and maintain, but let’s not forget the politics involved. Massachusetts is known for it’s dirty politics when it comes to state and local government, yet rarely is this issue discussed without sounding bitter.
