Audio Two Top Billin’ Single Anniversary

On October 15th 1987,Hip Hop group Audio Two dropped their single “Top Billin” as a B side to their single “Make it Funky” from their debut album “What More Can I Say”.  The song was produced by Stetsasonic’s Daddy-O and samples a simple drum sample of The Honeydripper’s “Impeach The President” while “Go Brooklyn” is repeated over and over on a loop.  It is one of the most recognizable Hip Hop songs ever created and almost everyone that was born during the “Golden Era” of Hip Hop can recite it by memory.  “Milk is chillin’, Gizmo’s chillin’/What more can I say? Top billin’/That’s what we get, got it good/And since you understood, would you…”.  The album produced the single and video for “I Don’t Care”, but it was nothing compared to “Top Billin” and the significance it had on the genre.  The song has been sampled in over 200 songs mainly Hip Hop tracks like 50 Cent’s “I Get Money” and Jay Z and Kanye West’s “Otis”.  Go Brooklyn!!!
